What is an emergency Bible?
An emergency Bible is your go to whenever you are facing a crisis. For me this is anxiety and depression, for you it can mean something completely different.
The idea of an emergency Bible is to have key verses, chapters, even whole books at the ready when you need them urgently.
This is separate from any other Bible. For example, I have an emergency Bible and a study Bible.
This is purely for when you need it in a crisis. So, it can be messy, all over the place, no structure.

In the video you can see my Bible is covered in tabs, all for different situations.
Once you’ve achieved this, you can use this Bible in emergency situations.
So how do you achieve this?
Why do you need one?
We all have different battles and struggles where we need support.
Mine is needing support for my anxiety and depression, yours may be because you’ve longed for a baby that isn’t here yet.
Once you’ve established what triggers you into a crisis or needing extra support, that is the foundation of what your emergency Bible will become.
Take this opportunity to truly investigate what’s holding you back, what fears or struggles you have the most.

Get a Bible.
I recommend using a journaling Bible because the margins are much bigger. You will need this when you start using tabs, because you will need space for the tabs and notes.
The paper should be thick, but don’t worry too much because the tabs will be covered in sticky tape as well.
This is the Bible I use, click here.
Make sure it’s a Bible you are familiar with and understand. This is not the time to experiment with KJV when you usually read GNT!
Make a list.
Start making a list of key verses or chapters you come across that comforts you and feels familiar.
I started with keeping notes of verses I heard in Church or in Bible Studies.
If your emergency Bible is for anxiety, read this article for some verses to start you off.
If you are still stuck, head over to Pinterest, or my Instagram for ideas.
When you have a list of around 10 (ish), start building your go to verses via devotionals, Bible guides, Bible studies and Church.
You will pick them up organically as you study the Bible more.
Here are some resources I recommend: This devotional. This Bible Study Guide and This and This Bible studies.
Time to get creative!
